Paia

A historic coastal plantation town on the island's North Shore, Paia has a rural ambiance that disguises it's sophistication. It is a home to the HC&S sugar industry and in the early 1900's was the hub of county commerce.
To visit the town today, you'd never know it but remnants remain of an old railroad track and station that transported sugar and connected people between Paia and Central Maui.
Paia evolved to embrace new immigrants and host international visitors. Paia offers a variety of clothing stores, curios shops and great eateries.
Located on Baldwin Avenue and Hana Highway, Paia is considered by most the last stop to pick up essentials before a trip to Hana.
Hookipa Beach Park is known as the "windsurfing capital of the world" yet it is not uncommon to see surfers and windsurfers side by side enjoying the picturesque and natural setting of the North Shore.
Paia's rich plantation heritage includes the influence of the sugar industry that remains alive and well. Paia has been able to retain it's cultural diversity which enhances the flavor of this unique community.
